Read on for a quick rundown of all that’s happening, so you’ll be up to date and in the loop.
New city
Ultimaker HQ has gone urban, with a move to Utrecht, the fourth-largest city in the Netherlands – and one of Lonely Planet’s 10 “unsung places”. Increased demand for Ultimaker products and the growth of the 3D printing industry all but insisted upon the change; there are currently thousands of Ultimaker printers in use, and our free, open-source software, Ultimaker Cura, enjoys more than 500,000 unique users per month and prepares a staggering 1.4 million prints per week.
All that activity, in turn, means we're expecting to widen our talent pool: the Ultimaker team currently comes in at around 400 people and shows no sign of slowing down. As such, we require a larger, more central location that will accommodate us for years to come – and Utrecht checks all the right boxes.
“Utrecht is a nice city that offers a lot of possibilities for socializing and having fun with colleagues outside of business hours,” Marrit Hoffmans, a product marketeer, says. “I also like the fact that I can now cycle to work in five minutes.”

New office
Ultimaker employees now occupy the top two floors of the Noordgebouw, which houses the Creative Valley co-working space. The Noordgebouw is a stone’s throw from Utrecht Central Station, allowing easy access from all parts of the country, as well as Schipol Airport. This is great news for both visitors and Ultimaker employees. Inside the office itself, an open floor plan and modern facilities act as a perfect physical manifestation of our core values.
