Ultimaker has been awarded a prestigious iF Design Award for the user interface of our Ultimaker S5 3D printer.
Together with design agency GRO Design, Ultimaker received the prize in the product category at a ceremony in Munich on March 15.
Exceptional design
For over 65 years, the iF Design Award has been given to companies as a seal of quality, paying tribute to the world’s most exceptional designs. Products are entered within seven disciplines: product, packaging, communication, interior architecture, professional concept, service design/UX, and architecture.
From there, a panel of 67 judges from around the world – all experts in design in their own right – embark upon a mission to find the best designs. This year, Ultimaker was one of over 6,400 entries from 50 countries.
The iF Design Award 2019 judging event
“I think the iF Award is really one of the more prestigious awards in the world and the reason is it’s judged by so many international designers,” says judge Damian Mackiewicz, Harman International Industries, US. “Having this opportunity as a designer to have your product design being judged by so many talents from all around the world, from all continents, is very valuable.”
All iF Design Award winners, including the Ultimaker S5, will be featured in this year’s iF World Design Guide.
Ultimaker S5
The Ultimaker S5 was the first Ultimaker 3D printer to be operated with a touch display. The printer’s 4.7-inch color touchscreen supports 11 languages lets you easily check print progress, change printer configuration, or perform maintenance tasks with on-screen guidance.
An intuitive interface eliminates the need for extensive operator training, and minimizes downtime through fast configuration changes, making the Ultimaker S5 the perfect 3D printer for busy professionals.
