The Digital Library is open for business
We’ve integrated Ultimaker Cura to enable a seamless workflow with the Digital Library in Ultimaker Digital Factory. You can now directly open files from library projects. After preparation, quickly and easily export them back to your Digital Library.
Working on something new? No problem – you can also create a Digital Library project from within Ultimaker Cura itself. That means no more switching software, no more waiting – just making it happen.
Work your way. Download projects from the Digital Library and export them back...
...Or print directly from the Digital Library.
In all, Digital Library integration results in a massive workflow boost to Ultimaker Essentials, Ultimaker Professional, and Ultimaker Excellence users – whether you’re printing remotely or collaborating on projects and applications.
Under the microscope
Several new features provide a better, more detailed visual representation of how a model is printed, making it a snap to fine-tune settings and improve first-time right. They include:
“Line type” is now the default color scheme. This improves your user experience – as you will no longer have to manually switch to “line type” each time you enter Preview mode
An indicator now clearly shows a print’s starting point
The Z-seam is now clearly indicated in Preview mode. This ensures that you will know whether the seam will be sufficiently hidden in the end product
The 'Z-seam' (shown in white) is a small mark visible on each layer of some prints caused by the extrusion process
Other new features in Ultimaker Cura 4.9 include:
New features
Simplified Ultimaker Cura onboarding. A new sign-in flow makes it easier than ever to get started with Ultimaker Cura – plus feature highlights, so you can immediately check out what’s new!
Weight estimation in decimals. This provides a more detailed idea of the amount of material used – which is especially useful for smaller prints.
18 printer definitions added for third-party printers. This makes Ultimaker Cura more accessible to community users.

Bug fixes
The following bug fixes are available in Ultimaker Cura 4.9:
“Connect top/bottom polygons” setting. We have fixed a bug in which this setting was unintentionally hidden when initial layer bottom layers are set to “concentric”.
Ultimaker Cura sub-model slicing. We have fixed a bug causing Ultmaker Cura not to slice a model if one sub-model of a group was below the build plate
